Healthcare workers on the front line
On CBSThisMorning an ER doctor was interviewed live from the ER. He was quoted as this virus is "the only thing that scares me." He went on to downplay his own well-being, but tears filled his eyes when he talked about the fear of potentially exposing his wife and two children under the age of 3. As he was talking, a patient was rushed in by gurney, CPR performed, and the expired before the clip was over. That is his daily reality, and the reality of so many healthcare workers out there on the front lines.
This tragic story of one doctor, one patient, in one ER is a grain of sand in the bigger picture of things. The White House now estimates 100,000-240,000 people will die from the Coronavirus. According to the President, "This is going to be three weeks like we've never seen before."
As the virus continues to surge, healthcare workers woefully ill-equipped with PPE. That's why we sew...and tape and package and deliver.
